For consistent sharp blades, use a whetstone. We stock a great quality whetstone sharpener so you are always ready to cut.

Though it is sometimes mistaken as a reference to the water often used to lubricate such stones, the word "whetstone" is a compound word formed with the word "whet", which means to sharpen a blade.

The process of using a sharpening stone is called stoning.

For hundreds of years, Japan has sharpened knives using natural stones lubricated with water . The geology of Japan has provided a type of stone which consists of fine silicate particles perfect for honing knife edges.

Our stone is of a composite construction, but the essence remains, ensuring a beautiful and sharp finish every time.

1000 grit stone -Traditionally used as the second step in the sharpening process or to refine the bevel, this is considered the medium or middle step in the sharpening process - the all rounder.

Use with all of our Japanese knives.
