Sori Yanagi (1915 - 2011)
Sori Yanagi was born in 1915 in Tokyo. He is a legendary master of industrial design and one of the most respected designers in the world. He played an important role in the establishment and development of Japanese industrial design, demonstrating a diversity of designs ranging from industrial products, furniture, tableware, kitchen utensils as well as architecture and environmental structures.
Yanagi's designs nurture simplicity and seek out small ideas with big impact. His work which includes cutlery, ceramics and stools is in the permanent collection of museums worldwide, including MoMA in New York and the Louvre in Paris.
