Gyokuro (玉露), translates to "jade dew" is a type of green tea from Japan. Unlike standard Sencha green teas, it is grown under shade similar to Matcha. This causes the tea to develop a deep rich green colour, more theanine and caffeine. Gyokuro has a full-bodied umami taste, with a savouriness, rich sweetness and a buttery mouthfeel.

Gyokuro is one of the most expensive and highly prized Sencha teas available.
