Japan commenced producing tin toys in the early 20th century, and mid century was the world leading producer, exporting the toys to the world. But before long the industry began a rapid decline with the introduction of plastics and other materials in the 1960s. Today just one tin toy factory remains in Tokyo, and its unique skills for making tin toys are on the verge of disappearing.

Mr Yanagisawa who has started this only remaining tin toy factory closed in end of 2019.
