The Story of Teiza-isu
Teiza isu is an icon in Japan and is loved at CIBI.
The Teiza isu was announced in 1960, with a height of 29cm, was in harmony with the Japanese lifestyle and pairs well with the Tendo Mokko INUI low table (40cm high) to create a nice seating space.
The wide seat and armless design provide ample space, spacious seating, allowing you to sit with your legs stretched out, or sit cross-legged. The rear of the seat is slightly inclined, and the moderately hard and thick cushion provides firm support for your body, allowing you to sit for long periods of time without straining your legs and back. The low seat makes it easy to stand up and is easy to use for people of all ages.
The plank-shaped legs are slightly wider so as not to damage the floor finish. The large round seat and backrest are said to have been inspired by persimmons. The border between the wood and the upholstery is sewn by a skilled craftsman using a technique called "tamabuchi."
The joints are designed so that no metal fittings are visible, and you can feel Tendo Mokko's commitment to beauty in every detail.
It harmonises with both Japanese and Western spaces and the colour of the wood deepens and ages beautifully with time through generations.
Available exclusively at the CIBI Design Store in Australia.
