Matcha whisks, known as chasen in Japanese, are handcrafted from a single piece of bamboo. Because of the association with the tea ceremony, there is an array of bamboo matcha whisks available, ranging in shape, price and value. However, the basic concept varies only subtly, and most are handcrafted from white bamboo, with 80, 100, or 120 prongs.
