Genmai is a Japanese brown rice green tea consisting of green tea mixed with roasted popped brown rice. It is sometimes referred to colloquially as "popcorn tea" because a rice grains tend to pop during the roasting process and resemble popcorn. This is the most flavoursome tea among our 3 Japanese teas available in store. Tea steeped from genmaicha has a light yellow hue. Its flavour is mild and combines the fresh green tea flavour with the toasted aroma of the roasted rice that gives it a nuttiness. This balance of flavours of this tea pair beautifully with rich foods such as fatty salmon.
