Sori Yanagi (1915 - 2011)
Sori Yanagi was born in 1915 in Tokyo. He is a legendary master of industrial design and one of the most respected designers around the world. He played an important role in the establishment and development of Japanese industrial design, demonstrating an amazing diversity with designs ranging from industrial products, furniture, tableware, kitchen utensils and other tools, to architecture and environmental structures.

Yanagi's designs nurture simplicity and seek out small ideas with big impact. His designs including cutlery, ceramics and his famous Butterfly Stool are in the permanent collection of museums worldwide, including MoMA in New York and the Louvre in Paris.
