Bringing people together around charcoal grilling
A Shichirin is a lightweight, compact and versatile charcoal grill that you can easily take with you or move around. Made of diatomaceous earth from Suzu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, a natural material with high heat retention, high fire resistance, durability and is also lightweight.
Control the intensity of the heat by adjusting the ventilation slides for air circulation. The horizontal shape is ideal for cooking meats, fish or vegetables. The narrow body of the grill allows for skewers to rest on the walls of the grill without falling.
Shichirin brings people together, sharing the warmth of the coal and delicious chargrilled aromas, perfect for vegetables and your favourite proteins.
Shiro Ogatan
For best results, we strongly recommend using Shiro Ogatan white charcoal.
Shiro Ogatan is a premium grade white charcoal made from 100% sawdust, heated and compressed to form briquettes.
This charcoal produces less of a smell when burned, can continue burning hotly for a longer time, and is less likely to flare up like common charcoal. The perfect fuel for cooking with your shichirin Japanese bbq.
How to use Shichirin grill
1. Set up outdoors
Always use your shichirin in a well-ventilated outdoor space, placed on a stable, heat-safe surface.
2. Light the charcoal
We recommend using firelighters for a safe and easy start. Place charcoal inside, light the firelighter, and allow 25–30 minutes until the charcoal turns white and is evenly heated.
