The dream of taking CIBI interstate and overseas has been a long time coming. Since we first opened CIBI in 2008, we never thought we’d get the chance to realise these ideas! So on June 14th, in a first for CIBI we will be hosting a party in Sydney to launch our cook book. Please come to the Paramount Recreation Club at the beautiful Paramount House Hotel on Commonwealth Street from 6:30pm. Then in July, we will be hosting our pop-up event at the Tokyobike store in Shoreditch, London. More details to follow, but needless to say, if you're in town, please come and say hello. As always, thanks to the CIBI friends and family who offered their spaces and assistance so that we can spread...

CIBI in Monocle

Cibi (and Mina no ie) have both just been featured in Monocle's brand new travel guide for Melbourne and we're pretty chuffed about it. Alongside some of the best our beloved town has to offer, Monocle has managed to strike a balance between cool and practical, hip and cultural. It has some of our favourite paces to go for dinner and even some new experiences for even the most hardened local. We have a few copies of the Melbourne guide (and of Toyko too!) so come and see us soon.

New to CIBI. Hakusan Petra Plate in three sizes. We love these for their mid-century, organic shape and that they match perfectly to Japanese Modernist legend Sori Yanagi's black handle cutlery. Come and take a look. Also on display is Lina Bo Bardi's very cool book of her South American mid-century architecture and design, Riki Watanabe Uni Tray and Shotoku black tumbler. See you soon. xx CIBI

CIBI's selected product exhibition. Vol. 1

SHALLOW BOWL EXHIBITION CIBI TOKYO 1/2/18 - 18/2/18 CIBI's selected product exhibition. Vol. 1  Showcasing over 40 different designs by Masahiro Mori In 2018, we will regularly hold exhibits introducing CIBI's selected products. As the first step, we will introduce you to Hakusan pottery that we love and use, with the title "Everyday Colors". A vessel that vividly colors a table is one of the most important elements that makes meal time fun. Hakusan pottery has been making wonderful pieces  since its inception in 1779 in Nagasaki prefecture Hasami Town and has been with CIBI for 10 years - since the opening of Cibi Melbourne. The strength of Masahiro Mori's design is that it does not fade over time and the warmth of the craftsmen's hands are felt and enriches...

He called himself the ‘Old man mad about drawing’, and in his time he went by at least thirty different names. Hokusai was a great and eccentric genius and continues to be one of Japan’s greatest artistic and cultural exports. Having never actually attained any kind of financial success during his career, his unique way of looking at things and illustrative style has brought him the fame and international regard he never achieved in his lifetime. To coincide with the amazing new Hokusai exhibition at the national Gallery, we have some created a collection of tenugui with Hokusai images and Hokusai inspired artwork. Taken from his 36 Views of Mt.Fuji series 1830-34 and perhaps his most famous piece The Great Wave off Kanagawa we have...
